Enhancing Security with Improved Distributed Acoustic Sensing

Enhancing Security with Improved Distributed Acoustic Sensing

Event detection software is in place across a huge range of sectors and it is an essential tool for keeping the perimeters of a building or area safe and secure. When it fails or reports false breaches, this can cause huge losses in valuable resources or supplies.

When a security systems provider came to us, they needed our help with improving the accuracy of their existing event detection technology. The technology they already had was able to detect whenever their perimeters were breached, but it was unable to sense whether it was a human breach or simply environmental, such as leaves, branches, animals, or even weather conditions.

They needed us to create something that worked with their Distributed Acoustic Sensing technology (DAS) and was able to  monitor activities across kilometers of length that used fiber sensors to gather information.

So, we set to work to help them, and as a result, our technology was able to monitor a breach within 5 seconds and accurately trigger an alarm 98% of the time. Our work also meant that the company was able to use this technology in harsher environments without worrying about triggering false breaches and wasting time or resources on investigating them.

To find out what we did to improve their Distributed Acoustic Sensing technology and make their systems even more secure, click the button below to read our latest case study where we break down the entire process in depth.
