A.I. in 2019: What Businesses Need to Know

AI in 2019: What Businesses Need to Know
We’re already a few months into 2019, and thing are already looking promising from an A.I. for business outlook. From integrating A.I. into the IoT to utilizing A.I. recognition systems to speed up controls, we believe a truly seamless integration of A.I. is happening.

Here are the top five areas we think will be the greatest advancements for A.I. in 2019:

1. A.I. for the Internet of Things (Smart IoT)

The Internet of Things is just that: everyday things – that are connected. So far, these objects have been performing simple tasks, i.e. making sure the lights and heating turn off when they aren’t needed. In 2019, we will see an explosion of new smart objects like these. These will have the ability to analyze and make suggestions, predictions and decisions based on collected data. In essence, machine learning for everyday objects.

2. A.I. In the Edge With 5G

The key here is 5G. In 2019, the real deployment of 5G begins, which means a whole world of possibilities opening up. We’ll be able to deploy to nano data centers – tiny data centers scattered throughout the globe connected to antennas belonging to telecoms companies. The models that provide local service will be capable of being deployed even without an Internet connection.

3. A.I. In the Edge

While this may sound like the above example, it’s not. With A.I. in the Edge, we will be able to deploy models closer to where things happen, from a mobile to a washing machine or any other type of device. This is the perfect complement to the IoT – when a connection is available, the system will be upgraded. When there is no connection, local models will be able to perform the tasks they’ve already learned.

4. Industry 4.0

A.I. will put Industry 4.0 further into gear this year. The Edge and the Smart IoT will make it easier digitalize manufacturing and industrial work. These are areas which currently lag behind banking, telecoms, and other sectors in terms of digitalization, automation, and A.I. integration.

5. Everyday A.I.

In 2019, we’ll see more and more small – and not so small – A.I.-enabled programs and applications that affect and ease our daily lives. A.I. will slide into every aspect of our lives, especially when it comes to sophisticated recognition systems that can classify and speed up processes such as airport security, borders, and other types of controls
